Resources

The idea of bringing together students, educators, and communities in order to promote environmental knowledge and leadership is not a new idea. There are several organizations and resources out there for both students and educators to use and implement in the classroom. This page serves to provide a curated list of these organizations and resources.

GLOBE

Perhaps the most large scale environmental project for students and educators is the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment, or GLOBE, program. This is a government funded and backed program that spans the whole planet. GLOBE is a large collective of students, educators, scientists, and communities working to collect data about or Earth in order to promote a connection between current and future scientists around the world. Students and educators can contribute data that will be used in current studies and experiments by scientific organizations such as NASA, the International Space Station(ISS), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA), and many others. To learn more or to get involved, simply follow the link to the global site, select your country, and navigate the menu bar to find out what you can do to promote or contribute to GLOBE.

EcoRise

EcoRise is a more curriculum and instructional based organization that focuses on providing educators with the training, tools, and resources they need to provide students with project based learning units that will foster student development and innovation. They also provide a place for students to be part of a community that inspires leadership, collaboration, and sustainability through innovation showcases. EcoRise began locally in one Austin, Texas high school, and has now grown into an international community of teachers, ambassadors, and education professionals.
